Well Hello There

Welcome to Beyond The Grommets: the wonders, wanders and what-nots from The Gift Wrap Company Design Studio. Catchy huh?! We are a diverse group of six cheeky young ladies who design all the products found in The Gift Wrap Company’s range (lovingly referred to here on out as TGWC, I hope you can appreciate the short and sweet!).

Referred around the company as “The Boston Studio” in actuality we are not in Boston proper but rather about 40 miles west in a little town called Northborough. Day in and day out we work together (and quite well I happily report) to keep the product line fresh, be innovative and most importantly to create fun designs you all will love to see adorning our products.

So please check in and enjoy our ramblings while we attempt to inspire, educate and maybe even enlighten about the little bits and bites that happen
beyond the grommets.

Trick or Treat Tunes

CD cover art, modern halloween

Happy Halloween!

Happy Friday, friends! With Halloween just around the corner, I’m sure many of you have some wicked fun plans this weekend, yes? Though I can’t say that Halloween is my favorite holiday, I am a big fan of the “treat” part of “Trick or Treat!” This year, I’m having a low-key dinner at home – no costumes, but an inspired menu and a modern playlist will hopefully make for a somewhat eerie evening…

wednesday what not: shout out to a cool store!

1. Wrap, 2. Journals, 3. Jolly Jots

Over Labor Day weekend I took a little jaunt over to Provincetown, MA, a fabulous little town at the very end of Cape Cod.  P-Town is full of eclectic shops, restaurants and people that will keep you entertained for hours! I highly recommend it if anyone is on Cape Cod.  One of the stores that I came across was a cool, modern home goods store, Utilities, right on Commercial Street, the main street full of fun things!  As I browsed the aisles and mentally filed up my shopping cart full of kitchen appliances, and tableware, I was delightfully surprised to see some of our French Bull by Jackie Shapiro Collection!! Doesn’t it look great in store? They had wrap, journals and our cute jolly jots. I never get tired of seeing our great products in stores I shop in. Tucked in next to the French Bull Wrap is also our recycled wrap Old School Stripe, love when people include recycled products to help our planet and make a good looking present.  Shout out to Utilities for having all sorts of great products all the way out in P-Town!

My unmade bed with empty walls.

Happy Friday Everyone! As I wrote in my little bio, I said I would share pics of my room once I wallpapered it.

Wednesday What-Nots : Braided Beauties

Though I would imagine that the art of braiding has been around for centuries, there seems to be a sort of revival happening. From the red carpet to the cozy kitchen, we can see these wonderful weaves intertwining in our everyday lives!

Summer is officially over (UGH!)

Well it looks as though the christmas season has managed to sneak up on us. Put away the flip flops and umbrella drinks, it it officially fall and last night I saw my first holiday focused TV commercial. “Stock up early” .. really? It’s October!  Anyhoo..despite my sadness and downright anger over the cold nights, frigid mornings and pitch dark afternoons, a bright spot just popped into my inbox.

It's Here!

Bunny-Sitting

I recently had the joy of taking care of a friend’s bunny, while they were away on vacation. Since I currently have no pets, I thought it would be a great way to find out if I would like to have a bunny as a pet someday. I like to call it Bunny- sitting.

Vintage Halloween

I have always loved old vintage halloween decorations. These halloween items remind me of the ones in my Mom’s treasure trove of an attic. Some of these might be reproductions, but they are still fun to look at while eating some candy corn.

1)  Cupcake Picks        2) Paper Mache Jack O lanterns      3) Flying witch Paper Rosette    4) Owl Decoration    5)  Halloween Tablecloth

airport art

After a recent landing at SFO I was pleasantly surprised to come across a great art exhibit featuring the works of Josef Frank right in the terminal.  The exhibit ends this month so I was lucky to catch that before it ended. I love that public spaces, normally not so fun, are utilized to educate and inspire such creativity.
