Well Hello There

Welcome to Beyond The Grommets: the wonders, wanders and what-nots from The Gift Wrap Company Design Studio. Catchy huh?! We are a diverse group of six cheeky young ladies who design all the products found in The Gift Wrap Company’s range (lovingly referred to here on out as TGWC, I hope you can appreciate the short and sweet!).

Referred around the company as “The Boston Studio” in actuality we are not in Boston proper but rather about 40 miles west in a little town called Northborough. Day in and day out we work together (and quite well I happily report) to keep the product line fresh, be innovative and most importantly to create fun designs you all will love to see adorning our products.

So please check in and enjoy our ramblings while we attempt to inspire, educate and maybe even enlighten about the little bits and bites that happen
beyond the grommets.

Knit Wit

So last weekend I decided I’d once again try to learn how to knit. I’ve tried to learn from my grandmother when I was younger, but just couldn’t  get it since she was left handed and I’d have to sit in front of her to learn. Then a few years ago my mother tried to teach me how to knit a basic pair of slippers. Needless to say they came out a mess, full of holes and my mom ran out of patience explaining  knitting to me. I had a skein of yarn to practice with and the needles that my mom had bought me, so I figured, here I go.  I  looked online for a website that had diagrams of how to do the different stitches, step by step.  Knitting Daily was the most helpful in getting  me started. At first I did a few stitches, mess it up, pull it out and start again. I’ve must have done this several times until I could do a whole row with out a major mess up. I know by the picture of my project, it doesn’t look like much, but for me that’s a small accomplishment. I have no clue what I am making. I think I’m just going to use it as a way to learn and practice different kinds of stitches, and in the end, maybe use it as a small lap blanket. Hopefully someday I’ll be able to knit myself a scarf, but for now I’ll just keep practicing.

I love to be creative, whether its through doing craft projects or design. I enjoy going to rock concerts, the louder the better. I love to spend my time outdoors, working in the garden, feeding little wild critters, or camping in the woods. At home I like to bake more than cook. There's nothing wrong with pie for breakfast.
