Well Hello There

Welcome to Beyond The Grommets: the wonders, wanders and what-nots from The Gift Wrap Company Design Studio. Catchy huh?! We are a diverse group of six cheeky young ladies who design all the products found in The Gift Wrap Company’s range (lovingly referred to here on out as TGWC, I hope you can appreciate the short and sweet!).

Referred around the company as “The Boston Studio” in actuality we are not in Boston proper but rather about 40 miles west in a little town called Northborough. Day in and day out we work together (and quite well I happily report) to keep the product line fresh, be innovative and most importantly to create fun designs you all will love to see adorning our products.

So please check in and enjoy our ramblings while we attempt to inspire, educate and maybe even enlighten about the little bits and bites that happen
beyond the grommets.

the shoot is on!

Just a little studio happenin’ for today.

We have now gotten our ED 2013 photo shoot into full swing! So it is mock-ups galor around here.

Unfortunately it is also hot as h@**  and there is very little air in the shoot area. The poor photogs are about to melt! But they are exceptionally good sports about it. Thumbs up for Charlie and Brian from Cutlip Photography!

Here is a little sneaky peeky behind the sets.. enjoy!

Aimee prepping & propping!
Not too long ago we did film and polaroids for each shot- technology good!
lights, camera, action
In need of a perfect ribbon!
I love this shot, arm and all!

Stay tuned for more sneak peeks and the release of our 2013 range due out mid December!

WNW: Junk in the Trunk

You know that place, the one you always drive by tell & yourself you should stop in someday? Maybe they have a catchy name, great signage or  cute window displays and it just makes you want to check it out, but you never get around to it? We all have those places. Mine is this crusty old antique store in East Bridgewater near the train tracks which always has some kind of crazy piece of vintage furniture out front . I am always close to causing a car accident when eyeballing their stuff as I speed around the corner, late for something as usual. Well, I finally stopped in because I saw something out there that I could NOT resist, and thus began my latest addiction to antique trunks.

a visit to a sister studio

Hi All!

Just back from a trek across the pond to meet with my counterparts from other divisions in the IG group. The “creative forum” as we call it, is where all the heads of the various studios within our organization get together to talk about studio matters and how we can live and learn from each other. It’s great to spend time together and helps to hear how others deal with the same situations I do day in and day out!

The gang... minus a few key members!

The group consists of representatives from the UK, Australia, Holland and the US. We meet periodically throughout the year and this year we were at Ankar in Newport Pagnell England just outside of London. The studio here is small in size, but full of great design, inspiration and talent! Here is a little sneak peek inside their studio space….. Cheers!

although it's a small area they put it to big creative use!

Glad to see messy desks over there too.. phew we don't feel so bad now about our space! Besides a messy desk is a sign of a creative genius at work!! I think Heidi will agree with me most on that!

I will post on some of the great design I saw while in London soon, unfortunately  my camera died very early in the day- massive bummer, but I did manage to get a few share worthy snaps in first! Stay tuned!!

No bull about it!

This past week I was off to NYC  for some interesting meetings. One of which was at the studio of French Bull, one of our favorite licenses. It’s always so great to see where other creatives work and I am always envious of the great spaces New Yorkers inhabit.
