Founder and creator of GoGo Gift Bags, Erin Borges is a mom turned entrepreneur with a busy schedule thanks to the whirlwind success of her amazing invention. With it's patent pending built-in tissue fan, GoGo™ Gift bags make it easy to create a stunning gift presentation in a flash!
We are thrilled to partner with Erin as we introduce a line of GoGo™ Gift Bags in our Everyday 2017 Collection. We recently had the pleasure of talking to Erin about her business, her family and her favorite desserts. See our full interview after the break.
Q: What is your favorite GoGo™ Gift Bag Print?
A: I'm hesitant to give the title of 'favorite' to just one GoGo™ Gift Bag. They are like my babies, they each have such unique and wonderful characteristics that it is impossible to select a favorite. However, I do gravitate towards the GoGo™ Gift Bags with added embellishments that give dimension. I'm all about details!
Q: To what do you attribute to your success?
A: I believe attitude is everything. I never take 'no' as a disappointment, I take it as a way of defining a path, but not anything that dictates my success. Hard work, dedication and gut instinct are all elements that certainly play a role too, but keeping a positive mindset will attract more positivity and success.
Q: What do you love to do when you’re not GoGoing? Any favorite hobbies or activities?
My 5 year old Daughter, Dahlia keeps me GoGoing 24/7
. She is my world and I take every opportunity to cherish each moment with her. My Husband, Shawn and I love to play with our Dahlia on the beach, take walks in the forest where we visit our troll and fairy friends (although they are shy, we have evidence they totally live there). We also enjoy inventing new things together and always have little projects around the house.
Q: You are a new addition to the crayon box. What color would you be and why?
A: I would like to think of myself as multi faceted, therefore I'd be a marbled crayon with warm yellows, cool blues, elegant purples and pops of pretty pinks.
Q: What do you wish you knew before you started GoGo™ Gift Bag?
A: I'm actually happy that I was clueless to the patent process, manufacturing details, retail challenges and other obstacles associated with developing a brand new product. The lessons learned along the way have provided me with a deeper appreciation for Entrepreneurs. Being reassured that everything would be okay would be the only pre launch knowledge I'd wish for because it really is daunting to pave your own way not knowing if ahead lies a cliff, mountain or meadow.
Q: What was the last gift you gave someone?
A: As a matter of fact it was today. My Daughter asked to give something to the homeless and less fortunate. While running errands, she was offered a piece of candy. Instead of taking it for herself, she immediately knew that was something she could share. We went home and painted colorful paper pouches and she wrote 'Love Dahlia' on them - we dropped them off to the homeless.
Q: What three pieces of advice would you give to someone who wants to become an entrepreneur?
A: 1) Have fun! Build something you are passionate about and it won't feel like work at all. It has to be part of your spirit.
2) Just ask. The only way we grow is by learning. Venturing out into a new business is scary and you won't have all the answers. Don't be afraid to ask questions and make sure you use the internet to the fullest extent. We are fortunate to live in a time where answers are at our fingertips.
3) Get a move on. Make sure you think it through but don't waste time OVERTHINKING it. You have to be smart but don't waste time. Time is something you'll never get back so while being prepared is important, you need to take a leap and move quickly. You don't want to be fine tuning for years while someone else is taking action.
Q: Anything new you’re working on that you want our readers to know about?
A: My wheels are always spinning and I do have a new product on the horizon that is so much fun, I can hardly keep a lid on it (that's a clue, so stay tuned).
Q: If you could have any super power what would it be and why?
A: Contagious love! If we all felt loved, expressed love and led with love, everything else would fall into place.
Q: One of your GoGo™ bags features our design "Birthday Bakery", what is your favorite type of dessert?
A: I have a zest for anything lemon. When I was little my Mom would make lemon squares for my sister and I. To this day, it doesn't have to be anything fancy, lemon just seems to suit me. Lemon meringue pie, lemon pound cake, lemon pudding and even lemon crepes- no sweet tooth required to devour just about anything lemon ... okay, now I'm hungry.
Thanks for talking with us, Erin! It was so great to learn more about you. We look forward to the launch of our GoGo™ Gift bag 2017 collection!
